Youth Opportunities at the Bike Church
Youth Memberships
The Bike Church offers free use of the space to youth.
Bikes and Parts
All children's bikes are available for free for youth in need of a bicycle. Please note these are donated and available "as is", meaning they may need some work and/or replacement parts. These bikes must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Child carriers, "tag-a-long" trailers, and replacement parts for kid's bikes are also available for free. Generally we limit one bike a year.
For older teens, we offer a modified version of our work-trade program, where they may work 2 or 3 hours to earn a bike in good repair (instead of 5), or in some cases the repair work alone will be their contribution. Parent/guardian approval is required, and bikes will not be allowed to leave with a youth until checked over for safety by a mechanic.
Helmets
The Bike Church has in the past helped the County Health Services distribute free helmets (for youth or adults). While that program is currently not funded, the Bike Church does still have some free (new) helmets available, and always offers used helmets for free as well.
