People may also come in and arrange with the mechanic a work-trade for shop use/assistance or necessary used parts . This type of work-trade is completed to meet a specific goal on a specific day. Credit can't be accrued and used at a later date.

As work is completed, work-trade individuals will accrue a $13 an hour credit, for a total of 5 hours or $65. This work can be completed on different days. Earn - A -Bike can only be done once a year per patron. The credit, once work is done, includes any shop time that must be spent to repair the bike. Keep in mind that the available bikes often need to be repaired to make them ride-able. This work is to be done by the recipient of the bicycle with guidance from the shop volunteers.
The bike Church offers earn-a-bike and work-trade opportunities to individuals who are unable to afford a bicycle or a part to repair their own bicycle. It is up to the mechanic on duty to decide who is eligible and if there is room in the shop for work-trade at that time.
